The Wirral
The Wirral peninsular lies between the river Mersey and the river Dee in the North West of England. With a diversity of locations and activities the Wirral is a great opportunity for the photographer. Wirral's towns, coast and countryside have plenty of attractions and activities to inspire .
The Mersey side of the Wirral is built up with towns and has a lot of industry. From Birkenhead dock lands you can cross by ferry to the Liverpool centre and for most of the length of the Wirral along the Mersey you can see the skyline of Liverpool with its two cathedrals and the famous Liver Building.
The Dee is much more rural than the Mersey side of the peninsula with a large estuary, and exceptional areas for those interested in birds and wildlife. Across the Dee from the Wirral the welsh hills can be seen and a short distance into Cheshire the Dee reaches old roman City of Chester.
The Wirral has 25 miles of coast line to explore and has plenty of attractions and activities with beaches and nature reserves. Once a railway line from Hooton to West Kirby, It is possible to travel bye cycle or on foot the 14 mile length of the Wirral way and then travel further along the sea end and reaching the Mersey at Wallasey
